My wife and I went to the Depot for the first time. Overall I was not impressed. The food was okay - presentation was poor. The value for the dollar was not there. Place is not the best Restaurant enviroment - I felt it is a bar with a restaurant as a second thought.

Been there numerous times the past few years. Thought it was a little pricey but not outrageous. Sandwiches are big enough to share. I liked the "pub" atmosphere and honestly if you are a smoker last time I was there you could light up (another aspect of a "pub" atmosphere) Found the tenderloin and the philly cheese steak both pretty good.

good food but a little pricey. and when i ask for an iced tea with no lemmon and you bring it with half a lemmon in it,there goes half your tip.

Have eaten lunch there a few times. I like the "pub" atmosphere there too. I had the Cajun burger once. Maybe I'm just hard to please being from Lousiana, but there was nothing Cajun about it! It was still a tasty burger, just wish they would call it something else.

My sister and I stopped in and neither of us were impressed with the food, the price or the service. Maybe they were really having an off day! :idk

It is a pub. I would recomend the Fried Chicken Sandwich...Outstanding and worth every dime. Chicken Wings are Fantastic and they have $.50 wings on Mon. and Wed. You pick the sauce! Thursday Nights they have $1.00 Tacos and they are Great. They have daily specials everyday and Usually some type of Good Steak Special on the Weekends. Just installed NTN Trivia game and they carry the NFL package. I believe they have 7 or 8 Flat Screens to watch the games or races. I personally love the atmosphere. The owner's John and Barb Welborne are wonderful people and I like the direction the place is headed.

Sorry! Just now found this thread. I have been to the Depot once. That was enouhg. The food was OKAY...nothing great and there were some 25 year old women all over (and I mean ALL over) a probably 50+ year old man. Needless to say, not such a tasty dinner seeing that!
Also, I have noticed they have "borrowed" the purdue train logo (or it looks VERY VERY similar to it). I am sure Purdue has approved the rights for it to be used at a BAR. Doubtful...hope they don't get in trouble.

They do have carry-out. I think their food is great! I just wish they had larger carry-out tea containers for the price.
BTW, they have had trains in there for years...it was an old train station and it used to have a toy train relica that ran around the wall near the ceiling, it was awesome!
I doubt Perdue had cornered the marker on train decor. JMO

Let me first say that it is PUrdue...not Perdue like the turkey farm. Did you by chance have associations at that little place down in lower part of the state? HaHa.
Next, if you meant "cornered the market" on train decor, that is NOT what I was getting at. I was talking SOLELY about the PURDUE train logo that they have taken upon themselves to use. I couldn't care less about the other train decor, in fact, I love it. As for the PURDUE logo, I like that too but I doubt they have the permission for that one and assuming Purdue were to find out, I would have to say the Depot might be a goner.

The depot I do not think has any intentions of copying off Purdue but to purely add local support to fans!
Also they have tremendous wings and newly added Pizza that is truly better than anyone in the town!
I was just there tonight and they had a 20 oz ribeye for $17.95.....and my wife loved the catfish fillet dinner with salad and baked potato for only $9.95!
It is correct also I have seen the signs for 50 cent jumbo wings on mon and wed!
For a small restaurant they do a lot of wings the owner said they get delivery sometimes twice a week on them and they are fresh and go thru nearly 200 lbs of wings a week. They come in 14 different flavors and 3 ways to get them cooked...........come on wing lovers...........they blow away B ....3 and hooooo......ers!

The restaurant, the guy from Chiago. He is shady. We got ripped off by him personally not his staff. He wouldn't even speak to us about the issue.
How do you let yourself get ripped off????????

Went in there last time for the first time in months. Was NOTimpressed. I have always thought they had good tenderloins...they've changed them. My buddy said he thought maybe they had been fried and then re-heated...but I literally soaked the grease off in my napkin. Also the breading was full of black pepper. Potato chips changed too...used to be plain chips...now they are salt and pepper and it seemed to me that something...the sandwich or the chips had a vinagar tang. Not everybody likes black pepper. I will go back but I won't get the tenderloin again...I'll stick to Milky way for those.

Sorry, Backintown, I have to disagree with you. I think that the Depot has the best tenderloins in town. I order them everytime that we go, my husband gets the wings and the kids order from the kids menu. I think that you should give them another chance.

This happened in April. We were going on a trip with the Depot. Due to a miscommunication on both ends yours and ours we could not attend. Basically really short notice. Anyway we went in to speak with I assume your husband. He did not show for 1 1/2 hours. I didn't want the $ back, I get the tickets could not be refunded. I just wanted to discuss the issue with him. I found it in really poor taste to leave a person waiting that long.
As time has passed I'm not as upset about it. I will agree to stop this if you will agree to donate any amount of money be it $1 to the Humane Society, Indiana Organ Donation center or a charity you pick.
I am a big believer in Karma, I would rather see it go to a good cause and this issue die.

"the Depot" is a representative from the restaurant.

Yes, I understand that...but it seems that it is a personal issue as to why jackie2 is so upset? Not necessarily having anything to do w/ the restaurant it's self. ???

Said event was put on through the restaurant. Point is, yeah the place looks good, yeah the foods alright, but there is more than one person who feels a little burt by management. And she is talkin about more than $100 for nothing also. Hard to not be a little poopy about that.

OK here is what happened and now it is clear!
ON April 3rd we had a bus trip that was very clear on the date because we posted in it February. I never spoke to the couple that signed up they have a good friend that works here at the depot and a very reliable and honest person.
The couple signed up to where it was a prepay for ticket to cub game, bus ride from the depot, beverages on the bus and lunch and more beverages at a pub in wrigleyville an hour before the game total 55 dollars for each person no refunds because it was first come first serve. The day before the trip they realized they could not go. I had already taken care of everything and no refunds were announced. I did not personally take the money I made zero money off the trip!
I did this to try and make a good thing for the business.
Tickets to the cubs game alone are 30 and I only charged 55 for the whole trip and that included everything else.
I do not know why I did not make the appointment and to be honest I thought it was understood.
I always contribute to local charities and fundraisers. So what I will do to eliminate the thought of me ripping you off is .... our mutual friend works tonight here at the depot and she will get 110 cash back and we will be square and I will take the loss. I am not mad or offended, lets just move on.
You can get your money from her tonight here or wait to call her tomorrow.
Thank you for being a good customer and I apologize for the misunderstanding!

My husband and I won't even go there because the few times we did we smelled so bad like smoke when we came out it was horrible. They might as well just advertise it as a bar and not a restaurant. I mean it's all open so it's not like you can request a table away from the smoke. The food was also horrible. I got nachos and only ate about 1/3 or less of them and ended up sick that night. My husband got a sandwich of some sort and said he would never go back. I don't understand how this play stays busy unless it's everyone there drinking alcohol and not eating.

took the family there tonight for dinner, sorry to disagree with you, TheWilsons, but the food was fantastic and the service was great. The place was packed. We had the breaded tenderloin and the wings with the potato skins as apps. THe kids ate all of their food as well. Will go back for sure !

well I like the fact that it is a smoking place...one of the few left and they are indeed a bar as well. However, the last time I was there I didn't think the breaded tenderloins were as good as usual. I would give them another try though as I've always liked it in there before.
